Vision Vent Controller
The ProblemGlazing Vision is a company specialising in the supply of innovative rooflight solutions. They wished to redesign the existing control system for one of their mechanised rooflight products to include enhanced safety and error detection features while increasing reliability of the product by removing the need for control relays.
The Solution
Investigation revealed that the primary cause for the failure of their existing design was the use of mechanical relays to control the operation of the drive motors. A new fully solid state system was designed which included current monitoring and error detection for the positional fedback switches used to limit the travel of the window. A suitable housing for the system was also designed to allow safe installation within the frame of the window.
The new system has increased reliability of the product and made it safer. Should the window become jammed or any of the wiring fail the fault is detected and handled appropriately.
